Galley hood exhaust ventilation systems undergo constant usage especially on yachts that have live aboard crews. Smoke and steam from cooking are exhausted from the galley hood through intricate ducting that zigs and zags over, up and out of the vessel. Overtime cooking grease builds up on the hood, duct interior and extraction fan surfaces. If it gets too long between cleanings, cooking grease can even leak out of the metal duct joints and through headliners of the vessel. Besides the mess, this is a potential fire hazard. Some sections may be able to be high pressure steam cleaned while others may only e suitable for detailed hand cleaning. A cleaning certificate will be provided for vessel records which will allow you to keep track of when the service was completed last and also be on hand to show your Lloyds or ABS inspector what was and when it was completed.
